A Z32 gauge that sits on cold, pegs hot, or jumps while the engine is stable is usually the single-wire sender—not the two-pin ECU sensor next to it. Both live in the front water pipe. The gauge unit is the small M12 sender with one terminal. Fit the ECU sensor by mistake and the cluster still lies.
