The R34 GT-R’s six-speed Getrag is a different clutch and flywheel package from the five-speed R32 and R33 cars. The NISMO Light Weight Flywheel (part number 12310-RSR41) is the chromoly disc specified for the BNR34 RB26DETT with the six-speed gearbox. It is not interchangeable with the 12310-RSR21 flywheel used on earlier GT-R models.
NISMO lists the unit weight at 8.31 kg versus 14.24 kg for the genuine flywheel, with inertial weight reduced from 2.615 to 2.097 kg·cm/sec². The disc is machined from SCM440H chrome-molybdenum steel, marked with the NISMO logo, and uses factory-style ring-gear chamfering so the starter pinion still engages cleanly. Flywheel bolts and a press-fit dowel pin are included.
This flywheel was developed for NISMO single-plate clutch covers and discs. Paired with that hardware, rotating inertia drops far more than a flywheel change alone and engagement becomes more direct than a dual-mass setup. It can be used with an OEM clutch layout, but NISMO recommends it with the matching sports clutch kit. Lighter mass usually brings some extra gear noise or resonance at idle compared with the stock dual-mass unit.
