The official NISMO flywheel for turbo R32 and R33 Skylines is not the same part as the R34 six-speed disc. The NISMO Light Weight Flywheel specified for those earlier cars is part number 12310-RSR21. It covers R32 and R33 GT-R models with the RB26DETT five-speed, plus turbo R32 RB20DET and R33 RB25DET applications. Part number 12310-RSR41 is the separate BNR34 six-speed flywheel and should not be used on these gearboxes.
NISMO lists the 12310-RSR21 unit weight at 6.88 kg versus 9.65 kg for the genuine flywheel, with inertial weight reduced from 2.904 to 1.738 kg·cm/sec². The disc is machined from SCM440H chrome-molybdenum steel, marked with the NISMO logo, and uses factory-style ring-gear chamfering so the starter pinion still engages cleanly. Flywheel bolts and a press-fit dowel pin are included.
This flywheel was developed for NISMO single-plate clutch covers and discs. Used as a package, rotating inertia drops far more than a flywheel change alone and engagement becomes more direct than a dual-mass setup. It can be fitted in an OEM clutch layout, but NISMO intends it as part of a sports clutch system. Lighter rotating mass usually brings some extra gear noise or resonance at idle compared with the stock dual-mass unit.
At Terra Firma Automotive, we supply this genuine NISMO Light Weight Flywheel as the correct R32 / R33 turbo upgrade for RB26, RB20, and RB25 owners who want faster engine response without a generic aftermarket disc. Choose Terra Firma Automotive for authentic NISMO drivetrain components built for the early Skyline.
