A five-speed Z32 that hunts in fifth or feels sloppy at the overdrive rod usually lost the small bracket that locates that rod—not the shifter itself. After a clutch or gearbox drop the original piece is often left off or cracked. Without it the overdrive linkage has nothing solid to pivot on.
