A five-speed Z32 that growls in every gear, or whines louder as speed rises, often has worn bearings on the countershaft. Those races support the cluster gear inside the RS5R30A case. Once they pit, the shaft walks and the noise follows you through the rev range. The box has to come apart to reach them.
The Genuine Nissan Manual Transmission Counter Shaft Bearing is the factory bearing at catalog location 32219. Two are required per gearbox. Automatic cars do not use this part. Replace both bearings and check the related snap rings and shims while the case is split.
